Automobiles are a big part of most people's lives in North America, especially in areas were there is limited or no public transportation.
Automobile owners get to know many different people who work in the automotive industry, and they see some of them on a regular basis, like their mechanic, for example.
However, there are a lot of other career opportunities in the automotive industry as well.
